On the road
Dundee Model Railway Club ~ DMRC ~ was first muted in 1949 but officially formed on 7th April 1950, from members within Dundee Society of Model Engineers, with the aim "to foster and promote general interest in the hobby, and its relationship to rail transport." And this is still true to this day.
As of 11/02/16 we achieved Charitable Status with the OSCR
Membership is open to all persons from school age to 'beyond' retirment. We do however, require that a responsible adult accompanies those under 16. No special skills are required, just an interest in model railways, be a part of the club and become involved in its activities.
We attend many exhibitions each year around Scotland (See 'On the Road' page).
Our clubroom is a 'modern' converted shop unit, with a large layout room, workshop area, toilet facilities and separate canteen room.
We currently have one OO gauge layout and three N gauge layouts that we exhibit.
The scenic baseboards have been erected, and track laid, for a new OO gauge DCC layout based on Arbroath Station. Now completing the final electrics and scenic items.
At a recent committee meeting a decision was made to build a OO gauge analogue layout based on Lochee Station, Dundee. To be started once the Arbroath is nearly completed.
A further OO gauge 'shunting puzzle' layout, to be constructed by our junior members. The baseboard and track have been laid and work is progressing on the scenics.
